Life has a habit of changing gear on us from time to time, like a shift in the wind, or walking down a path that we’ve always wondered about but never travelled before. For me, this is one of those times. It’s the close of a few chapters of my life and a beginning of others, and I think I can say with confidence that I’m ready for the new and different. I guess it makes perfect sense to start this new blogsite with something else new to me – the wonderfully sweet world of Newborns. Certainly not new to me in reality but definitely new in the photography way. And guess what? I didn’t think I would, but I LOVED it.

I’ve often heard newborn photogs say that they have the best job in the world, and up until these last few weeks, I didn’t fully understand what they meant. Now I do. I’ve been lucky enough to have two newborn sessions in the last two weeks, not a lot to some, but to me who has never shot newborns (I still cringe a little, putting those two words together), it was pure baby heaven. My trusty assistant (a sweet friend, and aspiring photog herself) and I had a blast organizing props, and creating a space in my studio where we could capture images that their parents will treasure forever. No pressure to try to get them to stand still, smile or listen to direction, instead just a learning curve to get them to sleep. Both babies slept eventually though, so they were little stars and I couldn’t have asked for two more gorgeous little ones.

Baby Z – just the tiniest, dantiest little lady, she rocked her first photosession – although as you can see, she did find it a little bit tiring.

And Baby O – not quite as tiny but just as adorable. He didn’t cry once, so content and peaceful.
